How To Clean Dirty Windshield In Winter
Driving in the winter is sometimes a bit of a hassle. Am I right? Even after you remove the snow and ice from the outside of the windshield; it still fogs up once you're on the road.
You might feel your frustration level rise when the fog happens, or when you have to chip off that ice. Did I mention how cold your hands get as well?
Fog happens and this is due to the temperature difference and moisture inside the car. But, don't panic! Here are three things to do to fight the fog and cut down on your "warm up" time. Use these 3 tips to keep your car windshield clear in the winter and lavishly live life from inside the car out loud!
3 Tips to Keep Your Car Windshield Clear in the Winter
Today's post is sponsored by a local dealership. Thoughts are my own based on my knowledge as an auto blogger.
Have you been shopping cars lately at your local dealership? I often find the best tips and tricks come from the sales staff that know their brands. My daughter just bought a new Jeep and she was asking how to keep her car windshield clear of fog, the Jeep Dealership gave her great tips. Perhaps you are shopping for a new car or if you are staying behind your current windshield, definitely consider these tips to help you out of the 'fog' you see daily during the winter!
Start the Engine First
Resist this temptation! When you turn on the windshield defroster as soon as you get in the car, it blows cold air onto the windshield. Instead, allow the engine run for a few minutes so the air ducts and heating system have time to warm up. Then, turn the defroster to high so that it blows as much of this warmer air onto the windshield as possible.
Keep the Windshield Clean
When your windshield is covered in dust and dirt, it gives moisture something to stick to. Keep the inside of your windshield as clean as possible to slow down moisture build up. Keep a small bottle of window cleaner and a microfiber cloth in the glove compartment is the perfect solution to kicking a grimy windshield to the curb.
Don't Re-circulate Air
The heating systems of most cars allow you to re-circulate air from inside the vehicle as opposed to pulling outside air through the external vents. However, re-circulating the moist air inside the cabin doesn't help to remove this moisture and makes defogging the windows much more difficult.
BONUS TIP
One extra tip! It also helps to clear the snow off of the outside vents, while you're clearing the ice off of the windows.
Don't let winter windshield woes get the best of you. Fight back with these handy tips and you'll never have a problem with foggy windows again. Lavishly live life out loud through a clear car windshield. Bookmark the 3 Tips to Keep Your Car Windshield Clear in the Winter for future reference.
